Analytic philosophy and continental philosophy are two distinct philosophical approaches and areas of interest. This distinction does not refer to specific geographic regions, which the title “continental” might imply. Analytic philosophers tend to emphasize philosophical issues which can be analyzed and evaluated through a strictly empirical methodology. Continental philosophers tend to approach philosophical issues through a phenomenological (purely descriptive) or existential methodology.↵
